"Media & Dems are extremely invested in the Russia story," Trump Jr. tweeted Tuesday.

"If this nonsense meeting is all they have after a yr, I understand the desperation!" 


His tweet comes after a report Sunday that he met with a Russian lawyer with ties to the Kremlin after being promised harmful information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonTrump to visit Georgia next week Former NY Rep. On Monday, The New York Times reported Trump Jr. was told before his meeting with the Russian lawyer that the damaging information promised about Clinton was part of a Russian government effort to help Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

Rob Goldstone — the publicist who set up the June 2016 meeting between Trump Jr. and the Russian lawyer — reportedly told Trump Jr. in an email that the potential information was coming from the Russian government in an attempt to aid his father.

Trump Jr.'s newly appointed lawyer dismissed the Times's report in a statement.

On Monday, Trump Jr. tweeted he was "happy to work with" the Senate Intelligence Committee to pass along the information he knows.

He also claimed there were "no inconsistencies" in the statements he gave regarding the meetings.
