Boehner: Obama risks emboldening Syria’s Assad

Lawmakers from both parties reacted to the White House
letter Thursday by saying they believe the red line has been crossed and it’s
time for more action.

{mosads}Boehner said he supported the president’s red line of a
confirmed use of chemical weapons, but added that he was “deeply concerned” at the
White House looking to the United Nations’ investigation as one way to confirm
the attack.

“After two years of brutal conflict, it’s past time for the
president to have a robust conversation with the Congress and the American
people about how best to bring Assad’s tyranny to an end,” Boehner said.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) urged House members to attend a classified briefing on Friday morning where Secretary of State John Kerry, Deputy Defense Secretary Ash Carter and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Adm. James Winnefeld are among the briefers.
