Obama gets heckled on Iran at NYC fundraiser

President Obama was heckled over a possible war with Iran at a New York City fundraiser on Thursday.

“Use your leadership! No war in Iran!” a young woman yelled at the president, interrupting his speech at a furniture-store showroom in Manhattan, according to a pool report of the event.

“Nobody's announced a war, young lady,” the president responded. “You're jumping the gun a little bit.”

The exchange occurred at the third of Obama’s four New York fundraisers Thursday at the ABC Carpet and Home store, where a crowd of around 900 were attending a $1,000-a-person fundraiser. The Roots and Ben Folds Five performed before Obama spoke.

Obama spoke for about 30 minutes, and was discussing foreign policy when he was heckled.

Tensions with Iran have grown as the United States and allies seek to dissuade Tehran from continuing its nuclear energy program. While the Iranians say the program is for peaceful purposes, the United States and Israel fear Iran is seeking to develop weapons capability.

U.S. officials have said all options, including military action, are on the table to force Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

Last month, a bipartisan group of senators said they would support President Obama if he launched attacks to stop Iran's nuclear program.
