May court date set for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

U.S. officials announced last week the trial at Guantanamo trial would resume for the five suspects, who could face the death penalty if convicted.

The Obama administration considered holding a civilian trial and suspended the military one for Mohammed in 2010, but changed course amid protests last year and opted to try him in military court.

Pohl, who is the chief judge of Guantanamo military commissions, declared himself the presiding judge for the Mohammed case. On May 5, Pohl said he will establish a full schedule for the case.

The other defendants are Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi.
