President Obama is slated to deliver a statement at the White House on Tuesday morning about the Guantanamo Bay detention facility.

Obama will make his remarks in the Roosevelt Room at 10:30 a.m., according to an updated daily schedule provided by the White House early Tuesday morning.

The Pentagon is poised to submit a plan to close the detention facility to Congress, with an Obama administration official saying earlier this week that a Tuesday deadline for submitting a proposal would be met.

That proposal is expected to outline several options on how to close the facility, the official added. Obama has long sought to shutter the prison before leaving office.

The Pentagon has looked at sites in the U.S. to transfer detainees, including to federal facilities in Colorado, Kansas and South Carolina. Ninety-one prisoners are currently at the facility.
