Obama’s energy nominee sails through committee, full Senate is next
Much of the limited criticism Moniz has faced has come from the left.
Some environmental activists have criticized his robust support for natural gas drilling and funding the MIT program has received from big oil-and-gas companies.
Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) didn’t address the criticisms directly, but lauded Moniz for having an “independent, data-driven approach.”
Moniz would replace outgoing Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
