Tax cuts jump in importance, poll finds

Still, taxes trail the economy (85 percent), government ethics and corruption (72 percent) and healthcare (70 percent) in importance.

Recent polling showed that 45 percent of voters prefer a candidate who opposes all tax hikes over those who would raise taxes on the wealthy.

The finding dovetails with Democrats who are concerned about allowing the top two brackets of the Bush tax cuts to expire at the end of the year.
