Gallup: Economic confidence negative, but steady

People in the U.S. see the economy as subpar, according to new data from Gallup.

The polling company also found that adults have had a fairly consistent take on the economy in recent weeks. Gallup's economic confidence index was -15 last week, and has now been either -15 or -16 the last three weeks.

Gallup found that people were equally negative about where the economy is right now, and whether it's getting better or worse – the two components of the index.

The -15 recorded last week is just a touch up from the low for the year, a -20 recorded in March.

But it's also much higher than last year's low, a -39 recorded around the time of October's government shutdown, and much lower than last year's high of -3.
