Animated video illustrates ObamaCare enrollment
{mosads}Characters dubbed “YouToons” navigate the new health insurance exchanges for individuals and small businesses.
The video doesn’t mention the ongoing political fights over ObamaCare, but it acknowledges that some people on the new insurance exchanges will pay higher premiums than before, while some will pay less.
“All these changes still don’t mean insurance will come cheap,” the video’s narrator says.
“Most people buying their own coverage will end up paying less with the new health insurance tax credits. But some people will have to pay more, even though many of them will be getting better and more secure insurance.”
The clip also states that certain young people will pay more, though they are also permitted to stay on their parents’ plans or purchase catastrophic coverage.
Polls have found that few people understand healthcare reform and how it will affect them.
A survey released in April by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that four in 10 Americans were unaware that the Affordable Care Act remains on the books.
The group’s president, Drew Altman, said the animated video is meant to help people understand the choices facing them this fall.
“This cartoon is meant to demystify a complex law and explain what it means for you, whether you support or oppose ObamaCare,” Altman said in a statement.
