Ohio to expand Medicaid under ObamaCare

{mosads}If upheld, the expansion will bring billions of federal dollars to Ohio as the state allows more people to gain health coverage under Medicaid.

Starting Jan. 1, individuals living at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level will be eligible for the program. About 275,000 low-income Ohioans fit into this category, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

Eight other Republican-led states have embraced the expansion after fights that pitted GOP governors against more conservative legislatures.

“Together with the General Assembly we’ve improved both the quality of care from Medicaid and its value for taxpayers. Today’s action takes another positive step in this mutual effort,” Kasich said Monday in a statement.
