GOP bill would delay ObamaCare data hub

"Fewer than 70 days before the hub is expected to be operational, critical questions remain unanswered. … These agencies are not ready and cannot assure us Americans’ sensitive information will be secure," Meehan said in a statement.

He said he is concerned that the hub will collect too much personal information, and that sufficient steps have not been taken to secure personal records.

The hub is designed to communicate among several agencies, including the insurance exchange where consumers try to buy coverage, the IRS and the Social Security Administration.

The goal is to build a computer system that can seamlessly verify whether an applicant has access to employer-based insurance, as well as the applicant's income and identity.

The hub will not store personal health information, federal officials have said.
