GOP presses Sebelius to explain ObamaCare rollout


"We believe the American people deserve answers to important questions related to the Department's implementation of the exchanges, and a failure to appear voluntarily to discuss the law's unfolding challenges would only deepen our concerns," Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and other committee leaders wrote in a letter to Sebelius on Thursday.

The administration remains tight-lipped about the problems facing After initially blaming the site's inaccessibility on heavy traffic, officials have acknowledged deeper structural problems but have not said what those problems are.

The HHS also has not said how many people have enrolled in coverage through the federally run exchanges. The White House says it plans to release monthly enrollment updates, putting the earliest possible release at Nov. 1.

"Either the administration was not ready for launch, or it was not up to the job," Upton said in a statement. "The president and top officials were quick to boast the number of visitors to, but they have since gone silent, refusing to disclose even basic enrollment figures."
