Ex-Kasich aide: Republicans lying about healthcare stance ‘do not deserve your vote’

Longtime Republican strategist John Weaver called out Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) for “flat out lying” over her “longstanding opposition” to covering people with pre-existing conditions.

McSally is running to replace retiring GOP Sen. Jeff Flake in a tight race against Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema.

Weaver, a former aide to GOP Ohio Gov. John Kasich, tweeted Friday morning that “she and the other Republicans lying about this issue and giving cover to Trump on so many other fronts do not deserve your vote.”

{mosads}While in Congress, McSally voted to repeal much of ObamaCare.

McSally got in a heated exchange with a reporter Wednesday over her stance on pre-existing conditions.

“I have fought for pre-existing conditions. I voted to protect pre-existing conditions. This is personal,” she said at an event Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic.

President Trump campaigned for McSally last Friday at a rally in Phoenix.

Wednesday, Trump tweeted that “Republicans will totally protect people with Pre-Existing Conditions, Democrats will not! Vote Republican.”

Republicans including McSally have been saying they will protect people with pre-existing conditions as Democrats use the issue and GOP votes to repeal ObamaCare as a key line of attack.
