State Department warns of government harassment for US travelers in Pakistan


Visitors to the country should also avoid protests and large gatherings that can easily turn violently anti-American, the warning said. 

The new warning comes in time for the country's parliamentary elections, scheduled for May 11. It replaces the Sept. 19, 2012 advisory that upgraded the risk assessment for the country because of violent protests sparked by a U.S.-made anti-Islam video.
