“We listened to each other,” Trudeau said at a press conference at the conclusion of the summit.

“I am not going to lecture another country on what it should do,” he said. “Nor am I going to have my positions determined by anyone outside of Canada.”

Trump complimented Trudeau on Saturday while addressing military members at the Sigonella Naval Air Station.

"Great people," Trump said. “We made a lot of good friends this week, I'll tell you, a lot of good friends. They’re good people."

Trump was the only leader not to hold a press conference following the summit, which concluded on Saturday in Italy. National security adviser H.R. McMaster and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn instead held a briefing.

The United States was also the only member of the G7 not to pledge support for the Paris climate accord reached under the Obama administration.
