“We are very confident in our ability to host international events in Vietnam, as we successfully held the APEC summit in 2017 and, other international events,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said during a news conference, according to Reuters.

Hang added that Vietnam has not received any details about when the summit would be held or what venue would be used.

“It is up to the United States and North Korea to decide on the location and the timing of the summit,” she said.

A second summit between Trump and Kim is expected to be scheduled in Vietnam, according to media reports. The first summit between the two leaders was held last June in Singapore.

At the first-ever meeting between a U.S. president and North Korean leader, the two signed a joint declaration agreeing to work toward the “complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula."

Trump has maintained since that meeting that North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat, but reports have emerged indicating that the country has not scaled back its nuclear arsenal.

Trump in a tweet Thursday morning touted what he described as progress with North Korea, writing that there are "no more Rockets or M’s being fired over Japan or anywhere else and, most importantly, no Nuclear Testing."

"The Fake News Media loves saying 'so little happened at my first summit with Kim Jong Un.' Wrong! After 40 years of doing nothing with North Korea but being taken to the cleaners, & with a major war ready to start, in a short 15 months, relationships built, hostages & remains back home where they belong, no more Rockets or M’s being fired over Japan or anywhere else and, most importantly, no Nuclear Testing," Trump wrote.

"This is more than has ever been accomplished with North Korea, and the Fake News knows it. I expect another good meeting soon, much potential!" he added.

North Korea state media reported Thursday that Kim has ordered preparations for the second summit with Trump, according to the Associated Press.

“We will wait with patience and in good faith and, together with the U.S., advance step by step toward the goal to be reached by the two countries,” Kim was quoted saying, the AP reported.
