The teen who smashed an egg on an Australian politician who expressed anti-Muslim comments after the New Zealand mosques shooting has pledged to donate the majority of a GoFund Me meant for him to the victims of the attack.

Will Connolly, 17, quickly went viral over the weekend after slapping an egg on the back of Queensland Sen. Fraser Anning during a news conference. Video of the episode includes Anning punching Connolly multiple times before both of them are restrained.

The incident occurred shortly after Anning sparked backlash for his comments about Islam in light of the mosque shootings, which resulted in at least 50 deaths.

“The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place,” Anning said, among other inflammatory comments.

Connolly quickly gained supporters, and a GoFundMe was set up to pay for his potential legal fees and “more eggs.” The organizers of the "Money for EggBoi" page said the goal was to raise $50,000 to commemorate the 50 victims.

More than 2,700 people had donated about $55,000 as of Monday evening.

The organizers said in a post on the page that Connolly "plans to send a majority of the money to the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack."

Another post from the page said that Connolly is limited to what he can post on social media. He also said money should go to victims in order to not “profit from crime,” according to The New York Daily News.
