Tesla on Monday made its first delivery of cars built at its Chinese factory, the electric car manufacturer announced.

The first 15 customers slated to receive the China-made Model 3 are Tesla employees, according to the company.

The first delivery came in at under a year since Tesla first began work on the $2 billion plant, Reuters reports.

“From now onwards China-made Model 3 vehicles will start running on China’s large streets and small lanes,” Tesla Vice President Tao Lin said at the delivery ceremony, according to Reuters.

The event was attended by Shanghai employees and government officials. One employee used the event to propose to his girlfriend.

He lifted the hood of the car to reveal flowers underneath it.

The China-made Model 3 sedans are priced at 355,800 yuan, about $50,000, before subsidies, according to Reuters.
