Putin, 67, played alongside the country's defense minister, Sergey Shoigu, and against Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, according to Bloomberg reporter Scott Rose. 


Putin made headlines earlier this year after he fell while waving to fans during an exhibition game. He also scored eight goals in that game.

According to The Independent, the Russian leader regularly plays hockey the week before Orthodox Christmas, which falls in January.
