France Prime Minister to lay out plan to ease lockdown Tuesday

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe will present to Parliament the government’s plan to ease the France's lockdown Tuesday and will oversee a vote on the proposal, according to a statement from his office sent to media outlets.

France has been on lockdown since March 17 due to the coronavirus outbreak, with restrictions set to be lifted on May 11.

Schools are set to reopen first, followed by a list of industries including retailers, but some restrictions are expected to remain in place.

France has had nearly 160,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and over 22,500 deaths.
