The Islamic State has said that Usman Khan, the man responsible for the London Bridge stabbing Friday, was an operative of the terrorist organization, Reuters reported.

According to Amaq — the extremist group's news agency — the attack was carried out because of orders given by the terrorist group to target countries that were actively fighting against ISIS.

Despite saying that Khan was a member, ISIS didn't provide any information proving its claim.

Khan, who was equipped with a faux explosive device, was shot dead by British police after stabbing five people on London Bridge on Friday. Two of the people stabbed died later that day.
