Read Comey’s opening statement to Senate Intelligence Committee


The Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday released the opening statement former FBI Director James Comey is expected to deliver during a highly anticipated appearance on Thursday. 

Comey will confirm reports that President Trump pressed him to “let go” of the bureau’s investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

{mosads}Comey also will say that the president said to him, “I need loyalty. I expect loyalty.”

Comey also confirms Trump’s claim that he assured the president personally he was not under investigation, according to his statement.
