Sanders slammed Comcast merger during epic speech

From there, he took on the question of media consolidation.

"I think the problem in America is we have too few companies controlling what goes on," he said. "We have too much of a concentration of ownership, and that merger is bad."

He blamed lobbying by the media and communications industry for assisting the merger through the approval process.

"Well, I can assure you for a fact, they have all of these lobbyists in the media industry, from communications, right here rallying, trying to do their best to make sure this merger and other type mergers take place — $360 million from the communication and electronics industry," he said.

Sanders has been a vocal critic of the Comcast-NBC Universal merger, urging voters to write to the FCC to pan the deal.
