Report: .gov accounts breached in Gawker attack

PBS's Hari Sreenivasan reports a sub-list of government employees was separately parsed, possibly to be used in another attack as part of Operation Payback, the online backlash by the hacker group Anonymous to the government crackdown against WikiLeaks. Gnosis has denied any affiliation with Anonymous.

The hackers also published information from Gawker staffers as well as confidential business information to demonstrate their access to almost everything behind the company's websites.

Gawker had recently mocked posters on the notorious 4chan /b/ message board frequented by hackers, challenging them to bring down the popular media blog. Gnosis quoted a post issuing the challenge in its response on Monday.
