House Republicans to stream opening session on Facebook

House Republicans will stream the opening session of Congress on Wednesday through Facebook, including the swearing-in ceremony and an address from Speaker-designate John Boehner (Ohio).

Nick Schaper, the new media director for Boehner, noted in a blog post that this is the first time the event will be streamed.

He described it as "another example of the new majority’s commitment to making Congress more open and accountable," citing news rules requiring committees stream hearings and bills be posted online before votes.

The stream will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday on the Pledge to America page on Facebook.
