Twitter hit with class-action suit for unwanted texts

Twitter has been hit with a class-action lawsuit for sending unsolicited text messages, TechCrunch reports.

Two California residents are suing because Twitter sent them a text message after they had turned off all cellphone notifications, meaning they had to pay a charge for the incoming text.

The men are alleging that this is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

The men are requesting $1,500 in damages for each call for each member of a class that they say numbers in the tens of thousands.

TechCrunch calls the suit "rather bizarre."
