Google unveils product aimed at government
Google said the federal
government had given the company’s Google Apps safety certification under
Federal Information Security Management Act (FIMSA) standards.
“Most agencies we have worked
with have found that Google Apps provides at least equivalent, if not better,
security than they have today,” the company said. “This means government
customers can move to the cloud with confidence.”
Selling cloud services to the federal government, as the Wall Street
Journal put it on Monday, is “the new front” in the war between
Google and Microsoft.
