Rep. Waxman accuses Time Warner of ‘pandering’ to GOP
{mosads}”Next time you think about helping the broadcasters—particularly the networks—read this…,” the Time Warner lobbyist wrote in the email.
Waxman said Time Warner “should not be pandering to the worst instincts of the
reckless Republican extremists that seem to be running the House of
Representatives.”
“A
broadcaster has a public service obligation and should be informing
viewers about the new options for health coverage under the Affordable
Care Act,” Waxman wrote to Britt.
Waxman demanded that Britt explain the lobbyist’s email.
“We
are looking into this and will respond directly to the Congressman,” a
Time Warner Cable spokesman said in an emailed statement.
Cable companies have been battling broadcasters over the cost of carrying their channels and other policy issues. A recent dispute between Time Warner Cable and CBS resulted in a month-long blackout of CBS for millions of subscribers.
