News bites: Facebook considers options for kids

Facebook is exploring ways to allow children younger than 13 to access its site, The Wall Street Journal reports. The move could open up a new source of revenue for the social-media giant, but could also create new regulatory headaches because of a federal law that restricts the collection of data from children younger than 13.  

Facebook and Yahoo are in advanced negotiations to settle their patent lawsuits, according to AllThingsD.
