Shots reported near NSA HQ

Shots were reportedly fired near the National Security Agency’s headquarters in suburban Washington on Tuesday.

Local news outlets reported that Park Police are investigating reports of shots fired along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, which runs near the spy agency’s Fort Meade, Md., headquarters.

The NSA also said that it has been damaged by what may be gunfire, added NBC Washington

The reports noted that the shots were fired near — but not at — the spy agency’s headquarters. It is unclear whether the incidents are related.

NSA spokeswoman Marci Green Miller confirmed that agency police were investigating the incident alongside state and local officials and that the investigation remains ongoing.

There are no injuries reported among personnel at the spy agency, Miller added.
