BuzzFeed, HuffPo sites restored, but not Gawker

Datagram said on its website Tuesday afternoon that "water continues to be pumped from the basement" so its Web servers can start running again.

While BuzzFeed's site is back up, the company said its information technology team is still working on restoring the capability to post on the site. During the time BuzzFeed's site was down, reporters posted content on blogging site Tumblr.

"Our incredible team worked all night to bring our servers back to life; BuzzFeed is up and we expect it to remain up. We're no longer operating off the compromised data center," BuzzFeed press manager Ashley McCollum wrote in an email to The Hill.

Gawker didn't have as much luck. Its site was not fully restored by Tuesday afternoon, greeting visitors with the message: "Our New York City data center is still offline thanks to Hurricane Sandy. We are working as quickly as possible to restore the full site, but in the interim you can view updates at"
