The annual list of deaths has been the most edited page since 2007 on the website, and this year's article saw 18,320 edits. The president-elect's page came in second, with 8,933 edits, according to Wikipedia.

The 2016 elections predictably made up a significant portion of the year’s edits.

Outside of 2016 deaths, they dominated the top five. “List of Hillary Clinton presidential campaign endorsements,” “United States presidential election, 2016” and “Republican Party presidential primaries, 2016” took the third, fourth and fifth spots, respectively.  

Donald Trump’s Wikipedia page has long been a battleground for his supporters and opponents. In 2015, his entire page was deleted twice in one day. In one instance the only words left on his page were "Let's be fair, nobody cares about him."

In 2016, Hillary Clinton’s page was also hit by vandalism. She was added to the cast of the movie "Weekend at Bernie’s," a comedy about a dead body, after she collapsed in New York while suffering from pneumonia.
