Apple CEO: Fake news ‘one of today’s chief problems’

Apple CEO Tim Cook called out fake news as a top concern in a Friday interview in the United Kingdom.
“This is one of today’s chief problems,” Cook said on Good Morning Britain.
“We have to give the consumer tools to help with this and we’ve got to filter out part of it before it ever gets there without losing the openness of the internet. It is not something that has a simple solution.”
Cook didn’t elaborate on what action Apple might take to combat fake news.
The company owns it own news aggregator product, Apple News. The platform has not been significantly linked to fake news the way Facebook and other social media outlets have.
Cook’s comments came as part of a European tour that has included meetings with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
