White House senior counselor Kellyanne Conway said on Tuesday that she does not know who was operating her Twitter account when it was used to retweet a white nationalist.
“I don’t know who had access to my account," Conway told BuzzFeed on Tuesday.
BuzzFeed reached out to Conway after her Twitter account responded to a user whose description included the hashtags "White Identity" and "Nationalist."
@KellyannePolls Your strength & resiliency in face of vile hatred, bigotry, & sexism of the unhinged Left is a daily inspiration! Love you!— Lib Hypocrisy (@TrumpTrainNoBrk) February 14, 2017
Whoever was operating Conway's account responded to the tweet, writing, "Love you back."
A White House spokeswoman did not immediately respond when asked if Conway's account had been breached or if she meant that she did not know which one of her aides was operating her Twitter. Conway recently hired her own chief of staff.
“I denounce whoever it is,” Conway told Buzzfeed. “It will be immediately deleted. Everybody makes mistakes.”
The tweet was later deleted.
