Net neutrality supporters 'rickroll' FCC

Protesters "rickrolled" the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission during an open meeting on Thursday to protest his plans to roll back the net neutrality rules.

The demonstrators began singing Rick Astley's “Never Gonna Give You Up” aloud before being escorted out by security.

Rickrolling refers to an internet joke where people are unexpectedly sent a link to the video of the 1987 Astley hit.

The demonstration was organized by Free Press, a consumer advocacy group.

The FCC is not voting on net neutrality measures at today's meeting.

But FCC Chairman Ajit Pai is reportedly floating plans to begin rolling back the controversial Obama-era internet rules, which require broadband providers to treat all web traffic equally.
