Infowars founder Alex Jones made an unexpected appearance on Capitol Hill for Wednesday's back-to-back hearings with executives from Facebook and Twitter, drawing media attention both inside and outside the committee room.

livestream from Jones's Twitter account showed him driving through Washington, D.C., on his way to the Senate office building where the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing was scheduled to take place Wednesday morning. He later held an impromptu press conference outside the hearing room.

Jones was joined by fellow conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, and Chuck Johnson, who sued Twitter for banning him, was seated in the front row of the hearing room.

The Intelligence Committee hearing will focus on foreign election meddling via Twitter, Facebook and Google.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is also set to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee in the afternoon over alleged anti-conservative bias on his platform.

Jones, who was temporarily suspended from Twitter, has promoted conspiracy theories on Infowars regarding school shootings, prompting lawsuits from parents of victims from the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut.
