Uber will offer a one-time $10 discount to users who are heading to their polling place on Election Day next month, the company announced Wednesday.

The ride-hailing service said in a news release that it has expanded its discount offerings for the midterm elections. Uber previously announced it partnered with two voting groups to offer discounted rides on Election Day, but now intends to offer a single $10 discount through the app itself.

Users will be able to view a discount code in the app on Election Day, the company said. The $10 discount will then apply to the cheapest option out of Uber's ride-hailing options Express POOL, POOL or UberX.

Uber announced earlier this month that it would implement an in-app "Get to the Polls" feature on Election Day that shows users where their polling place is located.

The company announced at the same time that it was partnering with Democracy Works and #VoteTogether to provide free rides to voters. Users must first obtain promo codes from one of the voting advocacy groups to utilize that promotion.

Both Uber and Lyft have announced efforts in recent weeks aimed at aiding voter turnout in the midterms. Lyft said in August that it would partner with several voter-turnout organizations to offer discounted and free rides to the polls on Election Day, including free rides to "underserved communities that face significant obstacles to transportation."

Uber and Lyft have offered similar services in previous years.

Early voting has already started in many states for the midterms, where Democrats are seeking to reclaim majorities in the House and Senate. The party must pick up 23 seats to take the majority in the House, and must gain two seats to do the same in the Senate.

More than 4.3 million Americans had already cast their ballots as of Saturday, indicating a large uptick in participation compared to the 2014 midterms.
