Rep. Bobby Rush seeks to lead telecom subcommittee for Democrats
Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) will seek to become the top Democrat on the subcommittee that oversees telecommunications issues, his office confirmed on Friday.
The top Democratic spot on the House Energy and Commerce Communications subcommittee opened up after Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.), the current chairman, lost reelection last week. Reps. Anna Eshoo (Calif.) and Mike Doyle (Pa.) are also seen as contenders for the spot.
Rush is currently chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection subcommittee. He introduced a privacy bill and is expected to push the issue again in the next Congress. Privacy is an issue both parties have promised to pursue.
