OVERNIGHT TECH: Hutchison moves to stop FCC from enforcing net neutrality

Sen. Kerry: FCC should impose conditions on NBC-Comcast merger

The FCC can and should impose conditions on Comcast’s acquisition of NBC Universal that would prevent the new entity from discriminating against rival content providers or distributors, according to a letter from Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.).

Kerry wrote to agency chairman Julius Genachowski and Assistant Attorney General Christine Varney on Thursday urging them to ensure the post-merger company can’t violate the principle of net neutrality by discriminating against rival content providers or competing cable companies seeking to carry NBC channels.

Can’t-miss news says activists may have mischaracterized the company’s stance on the FCC’s net-neutrality plan.
