The number of complaints against U.S. airlines from passengers is on the rise, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Department of Transportation.

The agency has received 9,542 complaints about airlines between January and June of this year, compared to 7,935 during the same period in 2014.

In June 2015 alone, the DOT said it received 2,052 airline complaints, which it said is a 47.3 percent increase over June of last year and a 37.5 percent increase over May 2015.

The agency said it is also investigating two tarmac delays that lasted longer than three hours, which have been banned on domestic flights, in June 2015.
