President Trump has yet to announce his plans for August, but there are signs he could spend a significant amount of time at his New Jersey golf course.

The Federal Aviation Administration this week issued a temporary flight restriction around Bedminster, N.J., where his club is located, from Aug. 3-20. The FAA typically imposes those restrictions whenever the president or vice president might be traveling in a specific area outside of Washington.

The White House hasn’t said whether the president will take an extended vacation in August, when members of Congress typically go home for an extended recess.

Trump has urged McConnell to scrap Congress’s recess altogether.

The president's aides have said he plans to remain in Washington as long as lawmakers do, an indication a possible New Jersey trip might be shorter than the flight restriction suggests.

“I think the president will be traveling, but I would imagine that members would be traveling too,” White House legislative director Marc Short told reporters Wednesday when asked whether Trump would skip town if lawmakers continue to work in the nation’s capital.

“So I don't know that that's a fair comparison,” he added. “But he will be here working on it as long as they are, and he wants to get it done.”

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders ducked when asked if Trump plans to travel to Bedminister in August.

“As always, we’ll keep you guys updated on specific details of the president’s schedule, but as Marc said, we plan to be here while the Senate is in session and get the healthcare bill completed,” she said.

Past presidents have taken lengthy vacations in August. President Obama traveled to Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., with his family nearly every summer. President George W. Bush took frequent jaunts to his Crawford, Texas, ranch.

Past presidents have also delayed vacations or changed the dates of their vacations because of changing congressional schedules.

In 2010, Obama’s vacation in Hawaii was delayed because of late work in a lame-duck session of Congress, which approved a bill to allow gays to serve openly in the military and a Russian arms treaty. Obama then extended his vacation in Hawaii by a day.

Trump has frequently traveled to his properties as president. Before the summer, he made several weekend trips to his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla. He has made four trips thus far to his New Jersey golf club.
