Chamber supports toxic chemical bill

{mosads}”One of the Chamber’s top priorities is regulatory reform – therefore we greatly appreciate the steps your bill would take to increase transparency and streamline the review process,” Josten told the lawmakers in the letter.

The Chamber’s support adds to praise the measure has already received from other industry and environmental organizations, such as the American Chemistry Council and the Environmental Defense Fund.

Some green and health groups have been more skeptical, however.

On Thursday, the president and chief executive of the Breast Cancer Fund, Jeanne Rizzo, said in a statement that the bill “fails to protect people from toxic chemicals linked to disease and jeopardizes the ability of future generations to enjoy healthy lives.”

The Natural Resources Defense Council and the Environmental Working Group have also expressed concern about the bill’s current form.
