The Trade Policy Manager works as a member of the organization’s Trade Policy team and independently to advance the development, implementation and communication of the organization’s trade policy goals and activities. The goal of this position is to support the industry through the pursuit of trade-related policies that are in the best interests of expanding U.S. exports in the sector.


• Providing support to organization’s trade policy staff in order to further their efforts to educate Congress, the Administration, state officials, and organization members, as well as to support the industry’s engagement with other U.S. and foreign associations and companies working on trade policy issues of mutual interest. 

• Crafting written materials and gathering information in order to succinctly synthesize its contents.

• Coordinate requests from and communicate with organization members. 

• Provide support for Senior VP and VP to develop strategy, presentation, 
reports, data compilation and various documents. 

• Performance support activities as needed to execute organization’s trade policy pursuits.

• Execute project and fiduciary management successfully and in coordination with
the Trade Policy team and other organization staff as necessary.

• Participate as necessary in communications and meeting/events strategies. 

• Work as a member of the team or independently as needed on other projects within the 
organization’s portfolio of activities including communications, event execution, etc. 

• Assist in coordinating, communicating, and representing the organization’s 
positions and policies aimed at policy makers (including federal agencies, Congressional offices, and certain state officials) and other organizations/companies relevant to achieving the industry’s trade policy goals.


• At least three years of experience pertaining to trade or international public policy. 

• Strong writing skills and the ability to clearly convey complex topics in persuasive 
writing is essential. 

• Must be an effective communicator orally.

• Working knowledge of trade policy issues and challenges at the federal level.

• Must have experience multi-tasking in an energetic, deadline oriented work environment. 

• Must be self-motivated as well as a team worker, goal-oriented, organized, and conduct 
oneself in a professional manner. 

• A college degree is necessary. A BA/BS or advanced degree in international affairs, 
agricultural policy, political science, public policy, economics, or other program related to international or policy issues is desirable.


• Knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Power Point and Excel proficiency.


• Attendance at meetings outside of the office and in the WDC area.
• Occasional travel throughout the year.

• Physical ability to work on a computer at a desk for long periods.
• Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
