POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

The government affairs department of Encompass Health, a large healthcare provider, is seeking an individual with dynamic interpersonal skills and an energetic team-player to fill the position of Government Relations Coordinator. The Government Relations Coordinator will focus on tasks associated with administering a Political Action Committee (PAC), with emphasis on its organization, growth, and reporting requirements. The Government Relations Coordinator will also provide operational and administrative support to the government relations team, conduct research and analysis on current healthcare policy topics, and carry out ad-hoc tasks as necessary. Working closely with senior Government Affairs team members, the Government Relations Coordinator will enhance the effectiveness of the department by responding to multiple and diverse requests in a fast-paced professional environment. The Coordinator will have to execute on plans and instructions under deadline with minimal oversight; write clearly and communicate quickly; exhibit an outward-facing mindset with strong interpersonal skills; and, take on new tasks and opportunities on short notice, while balancing competing priorities. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to develop and grow into an integral part of a government affairs team. Ideal candidates for the position will have a bachelor degree with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a government affairs environment, including experience with political fundraising and PAC management. Familiarity with Federal Election Commission disclosure and reporting procedures and requirements, along with federal campaign finance laws and regulations, is strongly preferred. An interest in and basic understanding of federal healthcare policy is helpful.
