Want to be involved in supporting all areas of our association’s Washington, D.C. office location? APWA has a great opportunity for a self-starter, detailed oriented individual to join our collaborative team environment which is focused on our members working in the public works field.

This position is multi-faceted and provides high quality professional support to the office’s variety of program activities including government affairs, media affairs, sustainability and Canadian advocacy and outreach. Specific duties include monitoring public works legislation and regulations at the federal level, writing and editing communication materials to include website content, performing research, database management. This position also provides the day-to-day office management services (such as: mail/delivery, conference room scheduling, office supplies, meeting planning, etc.) for an office of approximately 6 people.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years qualified experience related to support of professional staff or equivalent combination of education and experience; have the ability to support several staff members simultaneously; must possess a “can do” attitude, excellent writing skills, policy/association experience preferred, be organized, flexible, resourceful, and have experience that demonstrates initiative and reliability.

The successful candidate must take great pride in their work as the “glue” for the office and seeks to be steps ahead of the needs of the office, and helps to create a well-functioning workplace environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required, iMIS experience a plus. Capitol Hill and/or Association policy experience preferred.
