• Provide staffing and enabling functions on legislative issues for the front office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OUSD(P)). 
• Provide clear, executive-level updates to OUSD(P) of upcoming initiatives or legislation by synthesizing information from a variety of sources and increasing senior-level OUSD(P) awareness;
• Oversee OUSD(P) interagency coordination of legislation, testimony, responses to hearing questions, engaging with OGC(OLC) and other OSD organizations
• Assign and track Reports to Congress (from legislation) for OUSD(P) and provide suspense dates for completion;
• Manage OUSD(P) legislative proposals process and review for compliance with OGC(OLC) direction and serve as the OUSD(P) liaison with OSD(Comptroller) and OSD(P) components and other OSD organizations.
• Coordinate review all DoD legislative proposals for OUSD(P) equities
• Coordinate and collate questions for the record (QFR) and inserts for the record (IFR) for OUSD(P) hearings;
• Review and ensure accuracy and consistency of questions/inserts for the record (QFR/IFR) responses submitted by the OUSD(P) witnesses
• Attain clearance of OSD(P) witness testimony for congressional hearings, working with OGC(OLC), OSD(LA), OSD(C), and WHS(Security Review)
• Establish work priorities; ensure suspense dates are met; provide advice and guidance on the conduct of projects; and verify final products are complete and correct
• Engage with OUSD(P) FO and OSD(P) senior leaders or their staff as necessary
• NOTE:  The position does not liaise with legislators or congressional staff members.


Advanced degree in a discipline relevant to the position; or bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 years’ relevant professional experience.


• TS/SCI required
• Strong writing skills are required.
• Familiarity with OUSD(P) staff and structure.
• Familiarity with DoD organizational structure in general and Office of the Secretary of Defense in particular as evidenced by regular interaction with components across DoD.
• Ability to present information in the form of written and verbal summaries.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Ability to work independently and in small teams in a high operational tempo under strict time constraints.
