Manager, Grant Operations

The American Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness and the development of standards. The Manager, Grant Operations, is responsible for the management of pre-award and post-award grant processes, including coordination and submission of grant proposals, internal and external reporting, budgeting and general finance, business administration, and technical support related to research and science grants for the ADA Science & Research Institute (ADASRI). This position also serves as the primary point of contact between the ADASRI and ADA agencies involved in advocacy and as the primary contact person with governmental agencies (such as FDA and NIH) and private sector organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in/with managing and supporting grant programs focused on science and public health desired.
  •  Must have excellent analytical skills
  •  Must have knowledge of preparation of grant submissions, reporting and compliance requirements, management and identification of potential funding opportunities, and an understanding of oral and public health
  •  Must have the ability to understand scientific information and great collaboration with researchers of different background
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  •  Must be available to work evenings and weekends for meetings and travel to various locations in Maryland and Illinois, where the ADASRI has a presence.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  •  Experience in oral health research, oral health practice, or business administration
  •  Experience in working in governmental agencies is a plus
  •  Experience in a university or nonprofit setting also is beneficial.
  •  Master's degree preferred.
