Senior Tax and Trade Policy Analyst


Height Capital Markets is an investment bank with headquarters in Washington, DC, that specializes in regulatory and policy research.  We are seeking a tax and trade policy analyst to join our research team.


The Tax and Trade Policy Analyst will conduct open-source research, develop differentiated investment ideas, write original analysis, and effectively convey those ideas to clients through a variety of media.  This position is ideal for an experienced policy advisor, strategist, or consultant with an extensive subject matter background looking for the resources and flexibility to cultivate proprietary ideas and advocate for them.  Compensation packages are competitive and will be commensurate with experience.


The ideal candidate will have:


At minimum a 4-year degree in policy, economics, finance, or a related field with graduate degree in subject area preferred


4-7+ years of policy experience in tax and trade policy including experience in executive or legislative branch policymaking


A proven track record in understanding the legislative and regulatory levers at work in Washington including the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees, Commerce, USTR, ITC, and CFIUS


Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively and apply rigorous analysis to write about complex issues cogently and persuasively with minimal direction


An established reputation as a subject matter expert within the policy field and the ability to cultivate new relationships with policymakers, stakeholders, and clients


Additional subject matter expertise such as fiscal and monetary policy or labor/employment policy is a plus


Previous experience in capital markets or a demonstrated professional understanding of investment themes strongly preferred and a series 7 or 65 registration is a significant plus
