Evergreen Strategy Group, a social impact, public policy, and communications agency is seeking a Director with strong public policy experience to manage client relationships and lead strategy and policy development for purpose-driven companies and organizations.


As part of the Evergreen team, you will help craft and lead strategies that help activist nonprofits and world-class brands make progress on important issues, from climate change to racial justice to gun violence prevention, and more.


Job responsibilities include:

  • Client Relations & Project Management: Lead point of contact with a wide range of clients, responsible for cultivating external relationships and coordinating all relevant internal workflow, including managing junior staff and tracking deliverables from conception to execution. Requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Policy and Strategy Development: Devise policy proposals and stakeholder engagement plans to help clients influence important local and national debates. Must have a strong grasp of public policy as well as political and media dynamics, be able to think creatively, and engage both tactically and strategically.
  • Content Development: Draft policy memos, strategy documents, and conduct legal research on a range of issue areas. Must be able to write cleanly, and analyze and distill complex topics. Should also be comfortable writing or contributing to communications products such as op-eds and blog posts.
  • Substantive Expertise: Closely follow public policy developments, master new issue areas quickly, and engage outside experts.
  • Management: Oversee work of associates and interns, provide professional development and mentorship, and assist with operational processes.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • ● A minimum of five years experience working on public policy; campaign, government, corporate or legal experience a plus;
  • ● JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred;
  • ● Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • ● Proven ability to manage a team effectively and develop strong relationships with outside partners or clients.
