Huntsman video mocks Romney, DNC seconds

Jon Huntsman’s campaign Thursday released a new video mocking Mitt Romney’s performance in a recent interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier.

The ad titled “Mittstant Reply” splices together parts of the interview in order to paint Romney as a flip-flopper, a frequent criticism lobbed at the former Massachusetts governor whom many opponents claim has changed positions on key issues for political gain.

In the Tuesday interview with Baier, Romney rejected claims that he has altered his views for political expediency.

{mosads}”Well Bret your list is just not accurate, so one we’re going to have to be better informed about my views on issues,” Romney says in the ad in a clip from the interview.

The Huntsman ad then features Romney in split screen, with one clip showing him saying he believes climate change is a man-made phenomenon and one where he says he does not.

“But I believe based on what I read that the world is getting warmer, and number two I believe that humans contribute to that” Romney says on one side of the screen.

“We don’t know what’s causing climate change on the planet,” Romney says in the other screen.

The ad features similar examples highlighting Romney statements on abortion, immigration, and the Massachusetts healthcare reform law Romney implemented while governor.

The ad has attracted attention from Democrats who have hammered Romney as a flip-flopper as well. On Thursday, DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse sent out an email to supporters saying that the Huntsman ad “is very well done” and offering a link.

On Wednesday, the Democratic National Committee had blasted out a web video of their own featuring clips of the interview and mocking Romney’s performance as “disastrous.”

Romney’s campaign has not yet commented on the interview with Baier.

Baier though spoke with Fox’s Bill O’Reilly about the interview Wednesday night. Baier said to O’Reilly that Romney was “irritated by the interview” and that Romney had accused him of being “overly aggressive.”
